The Space Workforce Institute is releasing a wide variety of certificate and certification programs to enable employers to develop their workforces, help training providers and institutions align with professional standards, and help people advance in their lives and careers – from any point in their professional journeys. Each credential is built by subject matter experts to align with workforce standards established by the space industry. Credential holders will receive certificates and electronic badges to showcase their achievements.

Discounted rates apply for beta exams, other discounts are available through member and training partners or bulk purchase. Exams are currently available only in English and each is available for special accommodations.

Space Professional Fundamentals

This certificate validates foundational knowledge in topics spanning the space industry, covering key principles of electromagnetic radiation, orbital mechanics, rocket propulsion, the space environment, space mission areas, and spacecraft design. Learning & Development - Space Workforce Institute

CERTIFICATE VS. CERTIFICATION

Our assessment-based certificate programs align with specific specialty or general knowledge areas to develop and validate competencies. Earning a certificate indicates candidates have met the specific learning objectives as validated by passing a proctored, standardized assessment. Unlike certification, no renewal is needed; the certificate is a one-time award.

Each certification program (for release in 2025) confirms that an individual meets a recognized standard of competency in a profession or skill. Certificants must meet specified eligibility criteria and pass an assessment that is a rigorous, independent examination, separate from any education or training program. Certifications are timebound, requiring recertification through continuing education, re-examination, or other competency validation methods.
